The 2019 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R will command a premium over the existing Wagon R variants.
Maruti Suzuki India is all set to make yet another addition to its strong portfolio of hatchbacks. This time around, the company is aiming to offer a more premium version of its 2019 Wagon R, which is expected to be sold through its premium Nexa dealerships.
The spy pictures reveal a very similar design to the Wagon R currently on sale, albeit with a few changes. The most striking difference that can be pointed out from the heavily camouflaged test mule is the new headlamp set-up. In accordance with the recent trends, this car gets a split- headlamp unit, with turn indicators at the top and the main housing under it. It is also rumoured to get projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights. The grille seems to have grown in size and is provided with richer chrome treatment to give a premium feel.
The car gets minimal changes from the side. It seems to get black alloy wheels that are almost identical to the ones seen on the Maruti Suzuki Ignis. At the rear, the car gets LED tail lights with a high-mounted LED stop lamp. Although the spy pictures tell us very little about the cabin, the interior is expected to be all-black. Automatic climate control, auto headlamps and other such premium features can be expected to be a part of the package.
As for the engine options, the new Wagon R will most likely get the BS6-compliant, 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine. It will be mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT transmission.
Currently, the Maruti Wagon R is priced between Rs. 4.39 lakhs and Rs. 5.96 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The new hatchback is expected to be priced at a premium over this. The launch is expected soon, with the festive season around the corner.
