Next generation Hyundai i20 to arrive during the festive season in India.
The premium hatchback segment in India is a tough nut to crack. The Hyundai Elite i20 and Maruti Baleno are the leaders of this segment. The Tata Altroz has joined recently but the timing and lack of auto hasn’t resulted in good sales.
Now Hyundai is preparing to launch the much awaited new gen i20 in India. The launch timeline is on track and not affected by the ongoing lockdown in the country.
Hyundai’s top management has confirmed, the new gen Hyundai i20 will arrive in India by the festive season this year. Which means it should ideally be launched in the market by October 2020.
The new i20 looks sharper than its predecessor with the new design language. It will get some tweaks for the India-spec model. Internationally, the Hyundai i20 is longer than 4-metres in length.
We can expect minor visual changes to suit Indian buyers’ taste. It will be offered with three engine options. 1.2-litre NA petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and 1.0-litre turbo petrol with 7-speed DCT auto.
The interior is completely new following the latest Hyundai models. Comes with Creta inspired steering wheel. 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment on offer.
The Hyundai BlueLink connected car tech will be available in the new i20. Premium features like 8-speaker Bose audio system to come. Other features like ambient lighting, front ventilated seats, wireless charging, driving modes, etc. expected.
New Hyundai i20 will compete with Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz and the likes.
