2021 Volvo S60 India launch will take place within the first quarter of the calendar year (before March-end), the carmaker has revealed. In its third generation now, the new S60 made its global debut in 2018 and was set to be launched here this year.
Volvo Cars India managing director has revealed recently that the launch of the sedan has been pushed to Q1 2021. Another thing that we can state concretely is that the sedan will come with only one petrol engine and a single trim level.
So, the luxury sedan will likely get Volvo’s 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol that already does duty on the XC40 in India. The motor produces 190 HP and 300 Nm in Volvo’s small SUV, and we can expect the figures to stay the same when it comes to the S60. Gearbox option will be limited to an 8-speed auto.
With this available information, we can figure out that the Volvo S60 India launch will see the car come in T4 trim and probably as the R-Design variant, with all the equipment one would expect in the class it competes in.
Design-wise, the S60 has a clean and classy exterior with signature elements like the Thor Hammer headlights, C-shaped tail lamps that add to its elegant look.
Expect the sedan’s interior to be built solidly with good quality materials used to build every item that people can touch, feel and see.
Rivals of the S60 would be the BMW 3-Series, C-Class from Mercedes-Benz and the Jaguar XE. Once the S60 India launch takes place, Volvo is expected to introduce the all-electric XC40 Recharge in our country in the same year.
