Update – Skoda India officially confirmed to us that the global unveil of the new Superb is happening this year but India launch is expected by next year only.
2023 Skoda Superb India launch soon, local assembly planned
2023 Skoda Superb announced for India launch this year. Following the discontinuation of the Octavia and current gen Superb models due to BS6 Phase 2 norms, the Czech brand has announced the comeback of the Superb in a redesigned form.
Skoda has revealed its intention to assemble the new Superb in India. The company plans to reintroduce the Octavia as well with a facelift to the Indian market only after the Superb’s launch. While Skoda is committed to electric vehicles (EVs), it also aims to maintain a strong lineup of internal combustion engine (ICE) cars.
The upcoming fourth-generation Skoda Superb, teased with images displaying a familiar yet more refined profile, features an L-shaped LED headlight similar to its predecessor. The rear end showcases thin C-shaped LED tail-lamps and a lip spoiler.
Skoda plans to introduce the new Superb in India in 2023, with potential for local assembly in the future. Engine options haven’t been confirmed yet. Skoda might consider introducing strong hybrid with the new Superb.
The Octavia has also been phased out due to its shared engine with the Superb. However, Skoda acknowledges that the Octavia still enjoyed solid sales numbers during its outgoing phase, which has prompted the consideration of its comeback. The reintroduction of the Octavia will depend on the response received for the Superb, with both models featuring the same engine.
There is also a possibility of the Octavia vRS making a comeback. Skoda is considering a limited release of the new version as a special highlight.
