After its global debut takes place, the new Maruti Swift will be launched in India in 2023
More renderings of the 2023 model year Maruti Swift have surfaced online as development of of the popular hatchback is well underway.
Internally code-named YED, the fourth-generation Swift will be unveiled globally in the middle of 2022, while its official reveal in India is expected to happen by 2023.
The global model is said to be based on a new platform that is more safer and lighter than the HEARTECT architecture, while the styling will see evolutionary changes.
These new renderings of the 2023 Swift imagine the hatchback with an angry ‘face’ sporting sleek headlights and a larger air intake to cool the engine.
Although largely the same, the side profile of the car in the rendering gets a character line (which meets the wrap-around tail lights) and larger wheels.
Powering the hatchback will be a 1.2-litre petrol engine. There will also be a hybrid version which will make use of the same motor. Maruti is likely to retain the 5-speed manual gearbox and AMT offered with the current model.
Renderings of the new generation Swift Sport have also come out and they imagine the car with fender vents, large rear spoiler and a diffuser with twin exhaust pipes.
Set to make global debut in early 2023, the newer model should come with improvements to the chassis, driving dynamics and ride quality.
The Swift Sport should be powered by a tweaked version of Suzuki’s 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine which will work with a 48 V mild hybrid system. The powertrain could make more than the current model’s 138 BHP and should be mated to a proper 6-speed manual gearbox.
