Hatchbacks contribute to almost half the sales of cars in the Indian auto industry. The segment is growing further as we have experienced interesting new variations in 2015. The Renault Kwid has spiced up the entry-level space while there were quite a few entrants in the performance and premium hatchback space as well including the Fiat Abarth Punto, Abarth 595 and MINI Cooper S. The hatchbacks that really pumped up 2015 were the Honda Jazz, Maruti Baleno and Ford Figo. While the Jazz and Figo get a generational change, the Baleno is an all-new car from Maruti which is gathering tremendous attention. We have prepared a list for the new hatch launches in 2016, which doesn’t seem to be as action packed as 2015 but still there are a few cars to look forward to.
