New Audi A4 Showcased At 2016 Auto Expo [Live]

Audi has showcased the 5th generation Audi A4 at the Indian biennial automotive extravaganza. It will be launched here later this year.

Audi’s most successful car in the Indian market, the A4, is redesigned in accordance with the company’s most recent design language which has been seen on Audi’s other models like the recently launched Q7, A6 matrix and the R8. The new A4 features a wider single-frame front grille and the new matrix LED headlights with dynamic turn indicators. The A4 also gets newly designed LED tail lamps and chrome diffuser clip at the rear end of the car. The longer wheelbase adds to the spacious cabin and increased leg room at the rear.

The new generation A4 is slightly bigger than its outgoing version and is based on company’s MLB Evo platform which eventually makes it 120 kilograms lighter. This car also happens to be the most aerodynamic in its segment with a drag coefficient of just 0.23. On the inside, it features Audi’s Virtual Cockpit and there are several upgrades which add to the luxury of the car. The new infotainment system with 8.3-inch display features a modernized MMI navigation system. There is an optional 12.3-inch LCD screen available as well.

This 5th generation A4 is available with both petrol and diesel motors though there is no clear word about the technical specifications of the engines so far. The car may get a 2.0 TDI diesel engine along with either 1.8 litre or 2.0 litre TFSI petrol engine. The German manufacturer may release the 3.0 litre TDI engine for the driving nuts as well as they had done with the previous generation for a brief period. This new Audi A4 will face tough competition from the likes of the BMW 3-series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the recently launched Jaguar XE of which the latter two are new cars as well.
