All New 821cc Ducati Monster Spotted For The First Time

Ducati is readying up to take on the 800cc segment with the all new 821cc Ducati Monster that was spotted for the first time. The spy shots showcase the model to be production ready; however rumours suggest that the 821 Monster could be unveiled few months down the line at the Ducati World Week at Missano in July this year. The new Monster is most likely to replace the Monster 796 and could be called the Monster 821 or 800 upon launch.

The all new Ducati Monster 821 shares several similarities with the bigger 1200 Monster. The frame, tank, chassis, twin exhausts and seat all seem to be identical to the elder sibling. Keeping the design original though are the all-new double sided swing arm and the tail tidy mark on the sports bike. Powering the all-new Monster is the 821cc liquid-cooled, Testastretta 11° engine producing 110 BHP of power and 89 Nm of torque. The engine is also seen on the Hyperstrada and Hypermotard models in the Ducati lineup.

Ducati adopted liquid-cooling for its engines starting with the 2014 Monster 1200 and it is the only way to match the stringent Euro emission regulations and even retain the power and performance on its motorcycles. Although not favoured by Ducati aficionados, liquid-cooling comes in as a need of the hour. The Italian manufacturer will also offer a range of safety features including ABS, traction control and multiple engine modes.

Ducati saw a rise in its volumes for 2013 compared to 2012. Launched in 1993, the Monster series has been a significant contributor in the overall sales of the Italian manufacturer globally. The new Monster 821 is most likely to be priced around 9695 pounds (Rs. 9.71 lakhs) in the UK and will be competing against the Triumph Street Triple, Kawasaki Z800, Yamaha MT-09 and the MV Agusta Rivale 800 globally.
