Volkswagen has unveiled the new 2012 Beetle in New York. The new version gets slight cosmetic updates along with major changes to the engine, chassis and the interior. The first big change to the bug after its revival 13 years ago, the new Beetle heads to India in October this year, when the car will go on sale globally. Price of the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle is expected to be largely unchanged with prices starting at Rs. 25 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Volkswagen should get the diesel as they are anyways getting the car as a CBU. The 2012 version of the people’s car will simply be called Beetle (the outgoing version was called the new Beetle).
