The XF is one premium model from the stable of the Tata Motors owned Jaguar which was launched in 2007 at the Frankfurt Motor Show as a replacement for its popular S-Type. The XF was developed in Coventry at the Whitley design and development HQ and built at Castle Bromwich assemble facility at Burmingham. The Jaguar XF was launched in a variety of engine options depending on the market. It has been a successful model for the automaker and has gained some customers while competing against established cars like the Audi A6, BMW 5-Series and Mercedes E-Class.
Jaguar had facelifted the XF in 2011 and since then it has not given any major updates to the vehicle for two years now. So, it was expected that the British company would come up with a facelift soon and it has done so. But it’s interesting to know that it has only given minimal changes to the XF. The 2014 Jaguar XF would get a 2.2-litre diesel motor and two new paint finishes as an option.
The diesel powered Jaguar XF has always been a car that feels light on the pocket. The updated vehicle delivers a mileage of 20.4 km/l. These figure might bring a smile on your face but a sprint from 0 to 100 km/hr in 9.8 seconds makes it grim. However the 2.2-litre oil burner produces only 163 BHP, while the version being sold in India produces 190 PS of power. The 163 PS engine (known as the ECO2) is low on emissions as well, emitting only 129 g of CO2 per km.
The rest of the vehicle remains unchanged apart from the new “Intelligent stop-start system” that would come as a standard feature in the XF. The XF also gets a new and an extended navigation system. So, anyone looking to go for the Jaguar XF can surely go to the showrooms to buy one right away at it won’t see too much changes in the 2014MY. Since we don’t get the same set of engine tune in India, we don’t expect Jaguar to launch an update on the XF in our country.
