The Italian firm believes it's electric motorcycle should have the same DNA and performance of its petrol-powered models.
MV Agusta, the maker of exotic bikes plans to launch its first electric motorcycle within the next 5 to 6 years.
CEO of the Varese-based manufacturer Timur Sardarov has confirmed the above and added that the brand will begin its research into electric models next year.
The brand’s chief believes more research is required before producing a product for MV’s clientele who want high-performance motorcycles.
According to MV’s research, it found that it is still 5-7 years away from introducing an electric motorcycle that portrays the brand DNA, performance, weight and power density.
So, how will the MV Agusta electric motorcycle be made within the next 5 to 6 years and would it be capable of duking it out with products made by the Italian firm’s rivals (like the Project Triumph TE-1) that are already well into their development cycle?
Sardarov explains the 1 key difference between his firm and other manufacturers and that is the ratio of employees with engineering knowledge.
About 25 percent of MV Agusta’s workforce is part of the brand’s research and development team (the highest in the industry according to Sardarov). This should give the bike manufacturer an advantage over others.
