Spy pictures of the Mahindra Scorpio facelift are floating around the web since a very long time and now we have received some new photos of the vehicle from MotorBeam reader Mr. Prakash G. The Scorpio facelift is codenamed S-594 and it is being tested extensively throughout the country. In the spy pictures it can be seen that the front of the vehicle is very heavily camouflaged while the side profile looks very similar to the current Scorpio. The Scorpio facelift will get new headlamps, new grille and a new bumper up front. Mahindra will also fit projector lamps and LED DRLs since these are the “in” things now.
Some other elements of the Scorpio that will be redesigned are the hood and front fenders. The interiors of the Scorpio will also get a major update and now they will be inspired by the XUV5OO. The rear of the vehicle will also be significantly redesigned and it will now lend a much more premium feel to the SUV. The rear will get LED lights too. Mahindra will also provide an automatic gearbox option with the new Scorpio. Along with all these changes, the Scorpio facelift will come with new 17-inch alloys which look much more sporty than the existing ones. These alloys will be fitted on 235/65/R17 Bridgestone Duelers.
The Mahindra Scorpio was originally launched in 2002 and the manufacturer has updated the vehicle several times. The all-new Scorpio will arrive in the market in 2016 and hence Mahindra needs to upgrade the current Scorpio properly this time to keep up with the growing competition. The Scorpio’s toughest competitor has been the Tata Safari. Other compact SUVs like the Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano are also providing some heat to our desi SUVs and Mahindra really needs to up the game.
