The company now has five international bike brands under its umbrella in India.
MotoRoyale, which happens to be the now defunct, Kinetic group’s premium motorcycle division won’t be absent in any of the premium bike segments in India. This is because the company now has five international brands under its umbrella, MV Agusta, Norton, the recently acquired Hyosung, FB Mondial and SWM. These together will cater to every segment, from low-displacement bikes to the thoroughbred superbikes.
MV Agusta under MotoRoyale currently sells six bikes in India. These are Brutale 1090, F4, F4 RR, F4 RC, F3 800 and F3 800 RC. The F4 RC has to be the most exotic here with track-spec suspension, Brembo brakes and a titanium Termignoni exhaust system for that pure Italian sound. The F3, as the name suggests, is the smaller displacement variant of the F4 while the Brutale range is naked sports.
Then comes the UK based Norton motorcycles which makes some unique looking bikes. Only one bike, the Norton Commando 961 Cafe Racer is on sale in India yet but will be joined by the Norton Commando by 2019. Both these bikes will be selling through the CKD (completely knocked down units) route by April 2019. The Norton Atlas 650 scrambler will be launched in India towards the end of 2019. All of these will be assembled at MotoRoyale’s factory in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. The plant was earlier used by Kinetic but is now used for assembling the bikes sold under MotoRoyale.
The recently acquired Hyosung will be selling a V-twin cruiser and GD250R sports bikes in India. While the former is a long distance, fatigue-free ride, the GD250R is exactly the opposite with a full fairing. Hyosung’s tie-up with MotoRoyale also has other bikes in the pipeline that will come to India once the joint venture settles down.
FB Mondial currently doesn’t sell any bikes in India but that will change in September 2018 when the company comes out with its HPS 300 motorcycle. It can be called as a hybrid of a scrambler and a café racer and will be powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder engine. The engine outputs 25 HP at 9000 RPM and 22 Nm at 7000 RPM. The small displacement engine will allow the company to be accessible to more number of buyers and the bike will compete with the KTM Duke 390 and the BMW G 310 R. FB Mondial is not an as famous name as MV Agusta or even Hyosung but it does come with a rich racing heritage and is Italian, enough said.
The final one of the lot is SWM. The company will introduce an adventure motorcycle, the Superdual T which will also be its launch pad in India. It will be powered by a 650cc engine and will be launched here in the coming weeks. MotoRoyale is clearly working on a very aggressive strategy to make its and the presence of its alliance partners in India felt. It will be starting with a single outlet that will begin operations by September 2018. The number will be taken up to six in 2019.
