News highlights of the day include Mahindra, BMW, Renault, Jawa and Royal Enfield.
Mahindra – The Indian automaker is likely to reveal their first electric scooter before the 2020 Auto Expo. The upcoming electric scooter is likely to be based on the Mahindra Gusto platform and come with a 3 kW motor with a top speed of 60 km/hr.
BMW – The German luxury carmaker has announced that they will be introducing Android Auto connectivity across its range by mid-2020. Until now, BMW offered only Apple CarPlay connectivity with their cars and received a lot of complaints from Android users. The Android Auto will be introduced as a wireless feature in BMW cars just like Apple CarPlay.
Renault Triber – The Triber will get a turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol engine by March 2020. It will produce close to 95 BHP from its 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol motor. The same engine will be offered with their upcoming compact SUV that is expected to be launched in the second half of 2020.
Jawa Perak – The flagship motorcycle from Jawa, the Perak will be available for sale in India from April 2020. The bookings for the same will commence from 1st January, 2020. It’ll be offered with a BS6 compliant engine.
Royal Enfield – The Indian bike maker has filed a trademark of the name ‘Hunter’. Royal Enfield is expected to introduce their new lightweight motorcycle with this name. It will be targeting the women audience and the youngsters. It will be lighter, lower and the most affordable bike in the Royal Enfield stable.
Motor Trivia – Did you know, the Maruti Zen Estilo sold in India in 2006 was actually the first generation Suzuki MR Wagon in the international market introduced in 2001. Even Nissan had a rebadged version of the tallboy car called Nissan Moco in Japan.
