News highlights of the day include Tata Harrier, Maruti S-Presso, Tesla and Lexus LC.
Tata Harrier – At the launch of the Altroz, Tata Motors also teased an updated version of the Harrier. In the teaser, the Harrier can be seen in a new red colour and it is also equipped with a panoramic sunroof. Expect the BS6 version of the Harrier to be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.
Maruti S-Presso Exports – Maruti Suzuki has started exports of the India-made S-Presso to markets in Asia, Latin America and Africa. The S-Presso was launched in September 2019 and Maruti has sold more than 35,000 units of the vehicle till date.
Tesla Beats VW – Tesla is now the second most valuable car brand in the world and the company has overtaken VW. Tesla’s share value also increased and now the company is worth US $102.66 Billion while Toyota is number 1 at US $230.95 Billion.
Lexus LC India Launch – The Lexus LC is going to be launched in India on 31st January 2020. Pre-bookings for the vehicle have been open since almost 6 months now. The LC 500h gets a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine with a 10-speed AT. The vehicle is expected to be priced somewhere between Rs. 2-2.5 crores (ex-showroom).
Motor Trivia – Did you know, the Mahindra Scorpio and Tata Safari Storme get the same 2.2-litre diesel engine which is designed by AVL Austria. However, Tata sourced their common rail systems from Delphi while Mahindra sourced the same from Bosch. Mahindra used Delphi on their older m2Dicr engines though.
