News highlights of the day include TVS Motor, Suzuki and BMW Motorrad.
TVS Wego – The Indian 2-wheeler maker has discontinued the Wego scooter from the Indian market. The scooter couldn’t make it to the BS6 era as TVS decided to pull the plug on the Wego for the domestic market. However, the scooter is still in production with BS4 engine for the export market.
TVS Scooty Zest – TVS has teased the launch of TVS Scooty Zest 110 BS6. The scooter is likely to be introduced soon after the lockdown and the pricing will be announced closer to the launch. It is expected to come with an increased price of Rs. 5000/- in BS6 guise.
Suzuki Gixxer – The BS6 compliant Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 and Gixxer 250 both have been teased online for India launch soon. The pre-bookings of the updated motorcycles have commenced online. Compared to the BS4 engine, the BS6 compliant motor produces 26 BHP at a higher 9300 RPM while the torque is lower at 22.2 Nm. It is expected to be launched soon after the lockdown is lifted in India.
BMW R18 – The recently revealed BMW R18 cruiser motorcycle is heading to India as the official BMW Motorrad India website has listed the new motorcycle. Even some dealers have started accepting bookings for the same unofficially while the launch is expected during the festive season if COVID-19 situations gets better in India.
