News highlights of the day include MG Motor, Toyota and Ather.
MG Hector – The MG Hector got instant popularity as soon as it was launched last year. The SUV has now received more than 50,000 bookings since launch, which is quite impressive considering the fact that it is a new brand in India.
MG Hector Plus – The MG Hector Plus which is a 7/8-seater version of the regular Hector will be launched in India in the second half of 2020. The car was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. It comes with different styling and expected to offer more features. To compete with Tata Gravitas and Mahindra XUV500.
Toyota Vellfire – Toyota will introduce their flagship vehicle, which is a premium luxury MPV on 26th February. The Toyota Vellfire will be imported in India via CBU and is expected to come with a price tag of Rs. 90 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will compete against the Mercedes V-Class.
Ather – Ather Energy, which started it operations from Bengaluru is now expanding its network in more cities. The electric two-wheeler brand is available in Bengaluru and Chennai for now and will soon be expanding to Ahmedabad, Kochi, Coimbatore and Kolkata. They are accepting bookings for the Ather 450X in these cities and soon will come up with fast charging infrastructure across all these cities.
Motor Trivia – Did you know, the Ford Escort was the first car introduced by Ford in India in 1995. It came with 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine options in India.
