News highlights of the day include Honda, Toyota, Kia and Jawa.
Honda Activa – Honda is expected to launch BS6 compliant Honda Activa 6G on 15th January. The new model is likely to come with substantial cosmetic changes and new features. Expect slight increase in the pricing.
Toyota – The Japanese carmaker is likely to open bookings for the BS6 compliant Fortuner and Innova Crysta in the second week of January. The pricing is likely to go up by Rs. 1.50 lakhs. There will be no major updates with the BS6 models.
Kia Carnival – Bookings for the second offering of Kia in India have commenced unofficially. Some dealers have started accepting bookings for the Carnival MPV for Rs. 50,000/-. The MPV will be targeted against the Toyota Innova in India. Deliveries to commence in February.
Kia Seltos – The Seltos has immediately succeeded in the Indian market and it is selling like hot cakes in the country. The compact SUV has just crossed 1 lakh bookings in India. There is still a long waiting period for the car. Maximum demand is coming for the range topping variant.
Jawa Perak – The much awaited Jawa Perak bobber has hit the showrooms and bookings for the same have officially commenced. The booking amount is Rs. 10,000/-. Deliveries will commence from 2nd April. The bike gets a BS6 compliant engine. It will be priced at Rs. 1.95 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Motor Trivia – Did you know, the 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine from Fiat powered 13 different cars in India from 3 different manufacturers. This diesel engine is now getting discontinued in 2020 since it is not upgradable to meet BS6 emission norms.
