News highlights of the day include BMW, FasTag, Tesla and Toyota.
BMW – BMW’s entry-level sedan in their global lineup, the BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe is scheduled to be launched in the Indian market in August 2020 ahead of the festive season. The Bimmer will compete against the Mercedes A-Class sedan and Audi A3 in the Indian market.
FasTag – NHAI will be offering FasTag for free between 15-29 February. It will be available at RTOs, transport hubs, fuel pumps and all NH toll plazas. It is being done to increase the adoption of the new cashless technology.
Tesla Model X – The electric carmaker has recalled 15,000 units of the Tesla Model X in North America for power steering issues. The authorities say that the aluminium bolts that attach the car’s electric power steering gear motor to the gear housing may corrode and break causing a reduction or complete loss of power steering assist.
Toyota Vellfire – The much awaited luxury MPV, the Toyota Vellfire will finally hit the Indian showrooms on 26th February. It is loaded with features to the brim and will come with a 2.5-litre petrol hybrid engine option. It will be imported directly via CBU and the expected price of this luxury MPV is Rs. 75 lakhs making it a direct competitor to the Mercedes V-Class.
