A modified Tata Safari Storme has been put on display at the Autocar Performance Show. The vehicle looks rugged with the multiple cosmetic upgrades.
Tata Motors has put on display a modified version of its SUV, the Safari Storme at the ongoing Autocar Performance Show. The vehicle gets only cosmetic changes and no mechanical changes are involved. The vehicle is not only meant for display purposes as the kit is offered at the dealer level, costing around Rs. 3 lakhs (one can also pick and choose specific modifications from the kit). The front face of the SUV gets a new bumper with integrated LEDs and fog lights. The bumper also gets a small chrome bumper guard which carries two lamps. The bonnet too gets a bug deflector and a hood scoop finished in black.
The side profile of the modified Tata Safari Storme sees full-black bumper cladding and 265/70/17 off-road tyres. The ORVMs get a chrome cover while we can also see a black footboard. The roof of the SUV gets two lamps which are fitted on a black bar mounted on the roof rails. Pitch black window tints and sun visors complete the side profile. The rear gets a tow hook attached to the bumper. The entire car has been wrapped in matte orange vinyl and the finishing looks pretty good.
The Tata Safari Storme is powered by a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine that churns out 140 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque. The oil burner is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and the Storme is available in 4×2 and 4×4 configurations. The vehicle is currently priced from Rs. 9.94-13.71 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and a facelift of the popular SUV is on the cards with a launch scheduled for mid-2015. The Safari Storme competes with the Mahindra Scorpio which was recently given a comprehensive update.
