Mitsubishi is testing the Xpander in India; could be a possible Ertiga rival.
The Mitsubishi Xpander is an MPV which made its debut at the 2017 GIIAS and this vehicle is on sale in Asian markets like Indonesia and is popular in those markets as a practical family car. While Mitsubishi doesn’t really fetch any sales in India, it is expected that the Japanese automaker will launch a couple of products here under the guidance of Nissan with their alliance.
The Mitsubishi Xpander measures 4475 mm in length, 1750 mm in width and 1700 mm in height. With all the seats folded, it gets a boot capacity of 1630-litres. It has a ground clearance of 205 mm and a wheelbase of 2775 mm. Powering this vehicle is a 1.5-litre MIVEC petrol engine producing 105 PS and 141 Nm. It is available with a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed AT.
It is unclear when will Mitsubishi launch the Xpander in the Indian market but it has been learnt that the company will mostly do it after the implementation of BS6 norms here. Interestingly, Mitsubishi recently requested the government to extend the BS6 deadline. When launched here, the Xpander will rival the Maruti Ertiga, XL6 and Mahindra Marazzo.
