It has been just three months, since the Indian Automaker, Hindustan Motors launched the Pajero Sport. Currently the vehicle is not available off the shelf and has a long waiting period. The company expects that the supplies would improve once localization sets in. The Pajero Sport would be be readily available in India within the next three months. Fearing cannibalization of its newly launched variant, Hindustan Motors has decided to phase out the old Pajero SFX by October.
The Mitsubishi Pajero has undoubtedly been one of the most desirable SUVs and has been in the market since ages. The Pajero possesses the go anywhere – do anything attitude but the SFX variant has become too old and outdated. The launch of better SUVs from more established players has led to a further decline in the sales of the Pajero SFX. The recently launched Pajero Sport addresses the issues of the Pajero SFX to a certain extent but till the time Mitsubishi don’t manufacture or assemble it locally, one cannot expect aggressive pricing.
Mitsubishi has also recalled the Outlander due to a faulty fuel pump. The recall affects all Outlander vehicles sold in the country since the time it was first launched here. Dealers will check the fuel pump to see if it needs replacement and will change it free of cost. The Outlander is brought in via the CBU route and HM-Mitsubishi could consider local assembly with the next generation version, which was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.
