The MG ZS EV has been revealed officially in India ahead of its launch.
MG Motor’s second product for India, the ZS EV, has been revealed ahead of its launch. The MG ZS is a popular SUV sold overseas and the automaker will be launching its electric version in India. The MG ZS EV will be sold in 5 cities – Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
The MG ZS comes with an electric motor that makes 143 PS and 353 Nm while 0-100 km/hr comes up in 8.5 seconds. The electric motor is powered by a 44.5 kWh IP67-rated lithium-ion battery which is liquid-cooled. MG claims that the ZS EV has a range of 340 kms on a full charge.
The MG ZS EV gets 3 driving modes and 3 levels of regenerative braking. A full battery charge will take 6-8 hours using a 7.4 kW DC home charger while a 50 kW DC fast charger will charge the battery from 0-80% in 50 mins. The automaker will setup a DC fast charging network at their dealerships while buyers of the car will also get a cable to charge the car at their homes.
The EV also comes with a CO2 saving feature which displays the amount of carbon dioxide which is being saved. The cabin gets a PM2.5 air filter too. The MG ZS gets the iSmart EV 2.0 infotainment system which is an updated version of the Hector’s system.
It gets an inbuilt-SIM card for internet connectivity and comes with a host of apps like Gaana for music, TomTom for navigation, and Accuweather for weather forecasts. The MG ZS EV will be launched in January 2020 and its production will begin at the Halol, Gujarat plant by the end of December. The MG ZS will rival the Hyundai Kona.
