MG Windsor EV prices announced with battery, available in three variants

MG Windsor EV comes with a starting price of Rs. 13.50 lakh (ex-showroom). You can have a look at the complete price list below, which includes the battery. The Windsor is available in three variants – Excite, Exclusive and Essence. The Windsor also offers a battery rental option with prices beginning at Rs. 9.99 lakhs for those opting for the Battery as a Service (BaaS) program.

Battery and Range Details

The MG Windsor EV is powered by a 38kWh LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery featuring prismatic cells, offering a claimed range of 331 km on a full charge. The vehicle’s motor, mounted on the front axle, produces 136 HP and 200 Nm of torque. It also features four driving modes: Eco+, Eco, Normal and Sport.

For charging, the Windsor is compatible with fast charging at 45kW, allowing the battery to charge from 0 to 80 percent in 55 minutes. MG also offers 3.3kW and 7.7kW AC chargers, with a full charge taking approximately 14 hours with the former and 6.5 hours with the latter.

Features and Equipment

The Windsor offers a comprehensive feature set, including a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, 135-degree reclining rear seats, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other notable equipment includes ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, rear AC vents, wireless phone charging, a panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting and a 9-speaker Infinity sound system.

The interior design leverages MG’s born-electric platform, which maximises space with a flat floor and a large floating centre console. For safety, the Windsor comes equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, all four disc brakes, ESC, front and rear parking sensors and a 360-degree camera.

Ownership Benefits and Battery Options

MG is offering several ownership benefits, including a lifetime warranty on the battery pack for the first owner, a 60 percent assured buyback option after three years, and one year of free charging at public stations via the eHUB mobile application. Those who opt for the BaaS model can rent the battery separately and pay lower upfront costs, making it an appealing option for budget-conscious buyers.

MG Windsor vs Rivals

The MG Windsor is priced competitively in the electric SUV market, going up against rivals like the Tata Nexon EV and the Mahindra XUV400. While the Windsor is more affordable, both the Nexon and XUV400 offer significantly higher claimed ranges of 465 km and 456 km, respectively, thanks to their larger battery capacities.

With a starting price of Rs. 13.50 lakhs, the MG Windsor positions itself as a value-packed option in the growing EV market in India. Although it offers a shorter range than some of its more expensive competitors, the Windsor brings a host of features, safety equipment and ownership benefits that make it an attractive proposition for buyers looking to enter the electric vehicle segment.
