When MG Motor announced their partnership with JSW, the brand also stated that they will launch one new car every 3-6 months starting from this year’s festive season. The automaker has now confirmed that they have got approval for 5 new cars for India.
These new cars will be launched before 2025-end. Out of the 5 cars, 3 will be mass-market offerings while the other 2 will be premium vehicles. MG Motor will first launch the Cloud EV in the coming few months.
The MG Cloud is an electric MPV-styled crossover that will be slotted in the Rs. 10-20 lakh price bracket, between the Comet EV and ZS EV. The MG Cloud is also sold in Indonesia under Wuling’s portfolio. The vehicle shares its platform with the Comet.
Later on, MG will introduce the Bingo hatchback in India. This vehicle will also be based on the same Global Small Electric Vehicle platform shared with the Comet and Cloud. There is also a possibility that MG will launch a D-segment sedan that will sit alongside the Gloster. This sedan could get PHEV and EV versions.
Talking about the premium products, the brand could launch the Cyberster in India as a niche offering. The vehicle was showcased to us earlier this year. The second premium vehicle could be yet another crossover called R7, which is currently sold by SAIC’s Rising Auto. This is also an EV and comes with a swappable battery.
What do you guys think of these new vehicles? Which one are you looking forward to?
