The MG Maxus D90 will be shown at the upcoming Auto Expo and it seems to pack quite a punch.
MG Motor is going all guns blazing in the Indian market. After launching the Hector and ZS EV in India, the company is now gearing up to launch the Maxus D90 which is a full-size SUV, and a 6-seater version of the Hector. Details of the Maxus D90 have come out and this vehicle will be slotted above the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour in India.
The MG Maxus D90 measures 5005 mm in length, 1932 mm in width and 1875 mm in height. The vehicle has a wheelbase of 2950 mm. It will be offered in 6-seater and 7-seater configurations and just like the Hector, it’ll get connected car features.
The SUV will come powered by MG’s in-house 2.0-litre diesel engine producing a whopping 218 PS of power and 480 Nm of torque. Mated to this engine is an 8-speed automatic transmission. The SUV gets 21-inch tyres, a dual helix independent suspension up front and a five-link integral suspension at the rear.
Compared to the Toyota Fortuner, which is one of the most popular full size SUVs in India, the Maxus D90 will be a much more premium product. It has been mapped against the likes of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The MG Maxus D90 has received a 5-star rating from Australia NCAP and 70% of the body is made of high strength steel. 9% of the body is made from thermoformed steel with a strength of 1500 Mpa while the roof of the SUV is laser-welded. The D90 gets a large size curtain airbag which can unfold into a soft bed to protect passengers in the event of a crash.
