MG Gloster facelift will go on sale on 31st August, features subtle changes on the outside
MG India will launch the Gloster facelift on 31st August as the company has flaunted a teaser revealing the same. The facelift is sure to heat up the entry-level luxury segment currently dominated by Toyota Fortuner.
In its latest social media posts, the Chinese-owned British maker has confirmed that the upcoming Gloster facelift will retain both the 4×4 system as well as ADAS features, maybe, with some updates. The test mules of the SUV were already seen multiple times.
The overall silhouette remains the same as the outgoing model. The Blacked-out B and C pillars, the rear bumper and tail light elements look the same as the existing car. However, the test mule was spotted with a different set of alloy wheels.
The closely packed spokes of the new alloy wheels were both broad and thin sporting an unique design. The rear quarter glass area looked the same but the window sills were heavily camouflaged. There could be subtle changes inside out.
The Gloster, currently retailing from Rs. 31.5 lakhs to Rs. 40 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom), is likely to get a price hike once the facelift goes on sale. The hike is likely to be for the updates to the ADAS features and 4×4 system.
The Gloster, MG’s flagship for India is a full-size SUV that can accommodate 3 rows of passengers. It can be had either as a 6-seater or a 7-seater and comes loaded with lots of tech and safety features as standard.
It gets features such as LED headlights with auto-levelling, LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth music, calling features, leatherette upholstery, soft touch material on dashboard and door cards.
Powering the MG Gloster are 2 diesel engines. Both of them are 2-litre units, with the single turbo diesel putting out 161 HP and 375 Nm, while the twin turbo unit makes 215 HP and 480 Nm.
While both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, the lower powered car can only be had in 2-wheel-drive, while the twin turbo diesel comes equipped with 4-wheel-drive and also gets the terrain selection feature.
