MG Motor India will price the upcoming eZS compact SUV under the Rs. 25 lakhs mark.
With the upcoming launch of the MG Hector SUV, MG Motor India will start a new book in the country. The Hector is expected to hit the Indian shores in June 2019. However, MG will also bring in an all-electric SUV called the eZS.
The MG eZS is sure going to be an interesting proposition considering the fact that the company is most likely to price this all-electric SUV below the Rs. 25 lakhs mark. The pricing will help put up a stiff show against the upcoming electric SUV, the Hyundai Kona. Moreover, India will also the one of the first nations which will get the MG Motor eZS SUV which was displayed at the Guangzhou Motor Show last November.
The CBU route is likely to be used to bring in the eZS. Around 250 units of the MG eZS will be imported from Shanghai aligning itself with the MoRTH notification. MG says that the eZS will be global offering and will have a real world driving range of 350 kms in a single charge.
The MG eZS will most likely be powered by a 52.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack claiming a range of over 400 kms. An approximate full charging time of eight hours is estimated when using a wall-outlet. The battery pack is also used by the parent company’s other vehicles in their portfolio.
MG Motor India is targeting 75 percent or higher amount of localisation for their first product, which is to be built in the Halol plant, taken over from GM in India. The current capacity of 80,000 vehicles is also planned to be increased to 2,00,000 during its second phase of operation.
