MG Astor Unveiled, Has Plentiful Features And Then Some

The Astor can be seen at MG’s showrooms from 19th September, post which bookings will begin

The MG Astor unveil event was more about listing the new age features the car has than about its performance

The unveil of the MG Astor has taken place, meaning, the crowded compact/midsize SUV segment in India has got yet another serious player.

Measuring 4323 mm long, 1809 mm wide and 1650 mm tall, the Astor is a handsome car. Its fluidic design is further complimented by the striking LED lighting units that possess intricate detailing.

Its top variants will come get 17-inch dual tone alloy wheels and the Astor even comes with intelligent headlamp control, roof rails and exterior chrome embellishments.

Occupants of the second row seats get their own air-con vent too

Inside, there is a 3-spoke steering wheel, a stepped dash, brushed metal-esque decorative trim on the dashboard and door panels and leatherette upholstery.

As many as 3 interior themes – dual tone Sangria Red, dual tone Iconic Ivory and Tuxedo Black – will be on offer for customers to choose, along with plentiful features, some of which are listed below –

It does not come with a diesel engine option

In the MG Astor unveil video, the brand said the compact SUV will be offered with 2 petrol engine options – a 1498cc naturally aspirated engine making 110 PS and 144 Nm of torque and a 1349cc turbo petrol unit good for 140 PS and 220 Nm.

While the naturally aspirated unit will come with a manual transmission and a 8-speed CVT, the more powerful petrol engine can only be had with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Thus far, MG has revealed that the car will come in Orange, Red and Black exterior colours

MG says the Astor will be offered with 27 standard safety features. The compact SUV can be had with as many as 6 airbags, ABS, ESP, TC, Hill Descent Control, Level 2 autonomous tech and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).

Expect the official launch of the Astor to take place very soon and the compact SUV will directly rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti S-Cross in the market.
