MG Astor facelift makes it look sharper, gets revised interior details
The MG Astor facelift was leaked a few days back in patent images and now the updated model has been revealed through spy images ahead of its expected launch in India. The updated compact SUV showcases notable design changes and enhancements both on the exterior and interior, suggesting a significant update from its predecessor.
The new MG Astor features a heavy redesign, particularly evident in its front fascia. The updated front bumper now sports a diamond mesh grille, complemented by updated headlamps that look sleeker and a distinctive blue strip that spans the width of the front. These changes lend the Astor a fresh and more premium appearance.
At the rear, the Astor retains the familiar shape of its tail lights, though the internal design has been updated. Additional modifications include a redesigned rear bumper, a roof spoiler with an integrated stop lamp and a rear wiper. The Astor also boasts new dual-tone alloy wheels, otherwise the side profile remains more or less the same.
The leaked images offer a glimpse into the interior of the updated Astor, which now features an all-black cabin. Key interior updates include dual screens and a modernised 3-spoke steering wheel. The centre console has undergone significant changes, now incorporating an electronic parking brake and a redesigned automatic gear lever. There will be a longer list of features on offer that we’ll get to know closer to the launch.
While technical details of the facelifted Astor remain undisclosed, the current model is available with two engine options. These include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 108 BHP and 144 Nm of torque, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT. The second option is a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine that delivers 138 BHP and 220 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The updated model is likely to retain the same engine options in India.
We can expect MG Motor India to introduce the new Astor by the festive season in India. It will compete with a range of vehicles including Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and Honda Elevate.
