MG Astor Blackstorm is an all-black special edition
Festive season is here and so is the season of special editions. MG Motor India has launched the Astor Blackstorm edition with a price tag of Rs. 14.47 lakhs for the MT variant and Rs. 15.76 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom) for the CVT variant.
The official announcement says it is a limited edition model but the carmaker hasn’t announced any specific number of units to be available for sale.
The black edition comes with blacked out grille, black alloy wheels with red brake callipers, headlamps with black inserts, gloss black door garnish and black roof rails. It also comes with Blackstorm emblems on both the front fenders.
The black theme continues inside as well. The Astor Blackstorm gets Tuxedo Black Upholstery with red contrast stitching. There are Sangria Red themed AC vents to make it look sporty. It comes with all-black floor console. The steering wheel and door pads also get red stitching to match the theme. MG Motor India is also offering JBL audio system with the Astor Blackstorm.
The special edition is being offered with the mid Smart variant and not the top spec Savvy trim. Seems like the carmaker is playing value for money game with this special edition to boost the sales of the car during the festive season.
There are no mechanical changes in this special edition. It continues to be powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 108 BHP and 144 Nm of torque. It is available with both 5-speed manual transmission and CVT automatic transmission option.
The MG Astor competes with the likes of Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
