MG Motor branded Maxus D90 to be launched in India by Diwali 2020.
MG Motor India is likely to bring another SUV in India next year before Diwali 2020. It is a rebadged Maxus D90 7-seater SUV. MG has plans to introduce two more products by 2020 after the recent launch of much awaited MG Hector.
The D90 was showcased at the 2016 Guangzhou International Motor Show in China by MG Motor’s parent Company SAIC under the brand Maxus. The Maxus D90 is a full-size, body-on-frame SUV which is bigger on every aspect than the MG Hector.
The Maxus is available in the Chinese market with a 2.0-litre TGI turbo petrol engine. It produces 220 PS of power at 5500 RPM and 350 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options.
We expect MG Motor to offer a diesel engine as well with the rebadged SUV in India. The styling will remain more or less the same apart from MG specific badges and mild changes as you can see in our rendering.
The big brute SUV offers quite a spacious cabin. It gets features like 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster, cooled/heated seats, three-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, etc.
The Maxus D90 is 5005 mm long, 1932 mm wide and 1875 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2950 mm. It is likely to be offered in 5 and 7-Seater configurations.
The SUV will be featuring the four-wheel drive and low range transfer case. The 7-Seater SUV is expected to be priced around Rs. 30-35 lakhs. It will take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Mahindra Alturas G4.
