Surprise, Mercedes-Benz is launching the E-Class facelift much earlier than expected. Previous reports suggested the updated E-Class would only arrive in 3-pointed star’s Indian dealerships in September. However Mercedes-Benz is going all guns blazing and is launching products faster than its competitors. After bringing out the new GL-Class and A-Class in a span of 15 days, Mercedes-Benz is all set to launch the new E-Class on the 25th of June, 2013. The same day will see the launch of the KTM Duke 390, a highly anticipated pocket rocket motorcycle.
The German automaker has already completed ARAI formalities and the facelifted Mercedes E-Class was spotted on test in Pune. A media drive event takes place at Bekal, Kerala just prior to the launch. The 2014 E-Class gets a host of changes including refreshed exteriors and interiors, along with addition of new technologies. The E-Class spotted on test in the above images is the E250 CDI model which draws power from a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine belting out 201 BHP of power and 500 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. Auto start/stop system is standard on the car, which boasts mileage.
The E-Class is one of the best selling cars for Mercedes-Benz in India and thus the company is focussing on bringing the updated model quickly to our shores. The vehicle will be fully loaded with all the bells and whistles and will be offered in Avantgarde variant at the time of launch, which has the Mercedes logo on the grille and not on the hood. Lower specced variants will join the lineup over time and one can expect the new model to cost slightly more than the current one. BMW will launch the updated 5-Series later this year, which competes directly with the E-Class.
