Mercedes-Benz India will be rolling out special edition variants of the A-Class and B-Class compact cars this month in India. The updates on the cars are expected to be more features added to the list, especially on the diesel powered variants of both the models. The German car maker had initially launched the diesel powered models which missed out on certain features that are available in the petrol; however, being a diesel driven market that India is, Mercedes is now trying to cater to the market demand by adding more creature comforts and luxury equipment on the diesel variants.
The new additional features are most likely to include a panoramic sunroof, centre armrest and entertainment packages for the rear seats and an updated reversing camera that will be available on both the A-Class and B-Class diesel variants. Mercedes is also looking to soften the suspension setup after receiving complaints of the ride quality from customers on both the models. Expect no changes to the powertrain under the hood on both the models. However, Mercedes does plan to boost the power output of the diesel models in the foreseeable future.
The A-Class and B-Class will also get smaller wheels with high profile tyres that are expected to improve the ride quality. The current A-Class comes with 17-inch alloy wheels as standard and we expect it to get 225/55/16 tyres, dropping the 225/45/17 low profile tyres. Apart from the new changes, Mercedes is also expected to give new colour schemes and upholstery options on the A-Class and the B-Class with the special edition variant. Currently these cars are offered with limited colours. We could hear an official announcement from the company soon as the special edition models are expected to arrive at the dealerships anytime this month.
