The Stuttgart based luxury carmaker, Mercedes-Benz has five new models in stock to launch in India within a year. The German manufacturer has recently attained the second position amongst the top selling luxury car brands in India, overtaking BMW. In the coming days, Mercedes-Benz is ready to roll out the GL-Class, the new A-Class and a diesel powered version of the B-Class. The aforementioned models will hit the Indian roads within a month and the all-new offerings namely, the GLA crossover and the CLA sedan are due for their debut in India later.
Mercedes has taken some aggressive strategies aboard, targeting young buyers and expecting big volumes from the affordable compact segment. According to the sales figures, in the first quarter of 2013, Mercedes-Benz India has sold 2009 units of their products, reporting a growth of 5 percent. The German automaker promises to have the entire range of compact cars by the year 2015, which will help them churn out big volumes. Mercedes-Benz India is also considering CKD operations starting from this year but they haven’t specified the models yet.
Currently, Mercedes-Benz doesn’t have an entry-level rival to the BMW X1 and the Audi Q3, which contributes to big sales figures for the luxury car makers. The 4-door coupe, CLA will be positioned below the C-Class and Mercedes will launch the GLA crossover to take on the X1 and Q3 with aggressive pricing. The upcoming A-Class will come with both petrol and diesel engine options and is expected to be quite popular amongst young buyers with its splendid looks, strong performance and affordable pricing. The upcoming GL-Class will be launched with new styling elements on the exteriors and interiors with a relatively long list of features.
