The 11th edition of the Delhi Auto Expo is one of the most anticipated events to look forward to next year and manufacturers are already lining up their new models to catch the attention of the customers. The German car maker, Mercedes Benz has confirmed that it is going to launch the convertible of its super sports car; the SLS AMG called the SLS AMG Roadster. According to reports, the soft top made of a three layered fabric is apparently not going to eat up the space of the Roadster’s trunk volume and its capacity remains at 6.1 cubic feet which is roughly the same the hard-top version of the SLS AMG. This is a good piece of engineering done by the folks at Mercedes considering the issue that usually surrounds the convertible that the soft top eats up the boot space. The fully automatic which opens and closes in eleven seconds, and can be operated on the move at speeds up to 50km/h is available in 3 colours: black, beige and classic red.
Under the hood, however, things remain the same. The SLS AMG Roadster is also powered by the same 6.3 litre V8 mounted just behind the front axle and is mated to a 7 speed dual clutch transmission that directly powers the rear wheels. It is expected to deliver a power output of 571 BHP and 650 Nm of torque. Features include black design leather treatment, heated AMG sports seats, detachable glass windstop, anti-theft alarm system, dual zone automatic climate control, keyless start and AIRSCARF system that warms the head and neck aread of the passenger and the driver by blowing warm air from vents integrated along with the headrests like all other Mercedes drop-top models.
