The luxury grand tourer Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG was revamped to a racing version with Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, unveiled at the 2010 New York Auto Show. It has been called “Balance of Performance” and has won three driver and team titles: the FIA GT1 World Championship, the ADAC GT Masters and the FIA GT3 European Championship also 2012-24 Hours of Dubai under Black Falcon Racing. For the celebration of AMG’s 45th birthday, Mercedes has introduced the SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary and the company’s aiming for car collectors with a predilection for racing.
To make the special edition more exclusive, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 will be put together in five numbers in total, to signify Bernd Schneider, who has won five DTM titles as well as the 1995 FIA GT world championship assisting the AMG engineer in installing the 6.3-litre V8 into the car and to add to the clannishness, the car will sport his signature, alongside the engineer’s, on each of the five V8s. Priced at €446,250 including VAT in Germany, approximately Rs. 3,04,67,946/-, the cars will showcase distinct interior and exterior changes, when compared along the 49 racing versions of the SLS AMG running across the globe since 2011.
The bodywork and the alloy wheels of the AMG GT3 are finished in ‘design magno graphite’ matte paint, the same as the SL65 AMG that was unveiled at the New York Auto Show last April. Exposed carbon fiber and reinforced plastic is the material of choice for the construction of the gullwing doors, bonnet, mudguards, boot lid, rear wings, front and rear spoilers and rear diffuser. The matte carbon fiber finish trim on the dashboard and center console and the silver-painted six-point harnesses and steering wheel, the interiors depicting that of a sports car with details such as the ‘design magno graphite’ finish on the steel rollover cage. To add up the master piece, it has a carbon fiber safety cell on the co-driver’s side, a ‘1 of 5′ inscription on the seats and center console and a ’45 Years of Driving Performance’ logo on the indoor car cover. In case someone misses noticing the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 on the road it bears the same logo, in contrasting silver, adorning the car’s doors.
