Mercedes-Benz India has sold a record 6659 units (41 percent growth) in the first half of this year, while also recording its best Q2 and half-yearly sales ever. The company has nearly equaled its total sales volumes of 2012, in the first six months of 2015 itself. The company has confirmed it will launch the AMG GT in India this year.
Mercedes-Benz is proudly sitting on pole position in the Indian luxury car market when it comes to sales. The company is also the fastest growing luxury car manufacturer in the country for three consecutive years, which is quite a feat. The German car maker has created yet another sales history by registering its best ever Q2 and half-yearly sales in India. In line with its growth, Mercedes-Benz India registered a humongous 41 percent year-on-year growth by selling a total of 6659 units between January 2015 to June 2015. The recorded sales growth also marks the brand’s highest ever Q2 volumes standing at 3093 units, which is up by 43 percent as compared to 2163 units sold in April 2014 to June 2014.
The company’s growth can directly be attributed to continuous product updates and new car launches which Audi has found hard to beat, leave alone BMW. A young product portfolio comprising of vehicles carrying the latest design language has helped the sedans, SUVs and AMG performance cars to retail well in the country. As the C-Class and E-Class luxury sedans continue to remain the top selling models in the company’s Indian portfolio, the M-Class’ popularity has been witnessing immense growth, followed by the larger GL-Class. Localisation of the new generation C-Class model has enabled Mercedes to cater to the increasing demand of the segment’s best luxury sedan.
Presence of sporty and young looking entry-level models like the A-Class, B-Class, CLA and GLA, helps in bringing a younger audience to the company’s showrooms, thereby increasing the brand’s customer base. Ever since the GLA 200 CDI hit the local production line, its demand is expected to rise even further while reducing the waiting period. Even the AMG range which consists of super sporty and dream luxury cars, sustained a decent growth momentum in the performance segment.
Mercedes has already launched six products in the first half of this year, but nine more products will be launched in the second half of 2015. The company has confirmed it will launch the AMG GT later this year, which will be the automaker’s flagship offering in the country. The 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 produces 503 HP in the AMG GT S, doing the 0-100 km/hr sprint in a mere 3.7 seconds. Expect the supercar to be priced upwards of Rs. 2.5 crores.
