Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series Launched In India, Priced At Rs. 4.2 Crores

The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 debuts in India, limited to just three units

Mercedes-Benz has introduced the Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series in India, priced at Rs. 4.2 crores (ex-showroom). This exclusive roadster marks Maybach’s entry into the segment, offering a unique blend of performance and luxury. With only three units allocated for the Indian market in 2025, the model is set to be a rare and highly sought-after offering.

Distinctive Exterior Design

The Maybach SL 680 is based on the AMG SL 63 but features several design enhancements to distinguish it from its high-performance sibling. The front grille sports a chrome radiator design with illuminated vertical slats and a prominent ‘MAYBACH’ inscription. The long, sculpted bonnet, finished in Obsidian Black, prominently displays Maybach logos, which can also be integrated into the fabric of the soft-top roof as part of Mercedes’ customisation programme.

The side profile showcases bespoke 21-inch forged wheels with a distinctive 5-hole design and 36 spokes radiating from the iconic three-pointed star emblem. A sleek chrome strip runs across the length of the car, complemented by additional chrome detailing on the door handles and front fenders. At the rear, a refined bumper design with chrome elements ensures a more sophisticated look compared to the standard SL roadster.

Opulent Interior

Inside, the SL 680 offers a two-seater configuration, in contrast to the four-seat layout of the AMG SL 63. The cabin is adorned with premium white Nappa leather upholstery from Mercedes’ Manufaktur personalisation division. Signature Maybach patterns are embedded in the seats, while the three-spoke steering wheel prominently features the Maybach name. Roll hoops positioned behind the seat headrests also bear the Maybach insignia, reinforcing the car’s elite status.

The driver-centric cockpit includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster alongside an 11.9-inch portrait-style central touchscreen, which can be adjusted for optimal visibility. Mercedes’ AI-based MBUX multimedia system is integrated for enhanced connectivity and convenience. Additionally, the brand has refined the exhaust system to minimise cabin noise, while the suspension setup has been fine-tuned to prioritise comfort over outright sportiness.

Performance and Powertrain

Under the hood, the Maybach SL 680 houses a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, delivering 585 HP and 800 Nm of peak torque. The twin-scroll turbochargers, strategically placed between the cylinder heads, enhance throttle response. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission, enabling the roadster to accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in 4.1 seconds. While slightly slower than the AMG SL 63, this model offers a more refined and luxurious driving experience. The top speed is electronically limited to 260 km/hr.

Exclusive Offering

Given its limited availability and bespoke customisation options, it is likely to become a collector’s item among automotive enthusiasts in India. Bookings are now open but with only three units allocated for this year.
