Mercedes-Maybach is taking luxury to a whole new level with the 2024 EQS 680 which is all set to be launched in India on 5th September at a price point of approximately Rs. 2.50 Crore (ex-showroom). The EQS 680 also seems like one of the most luxurious EVs on sale in India.
At the heart of the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 is a dual-motor setup that delivers a powerful 650 BHP and 950 Nm of torque. Apart from that, it also offers a remarkable range of up to 600 km on a full charge, thanks to its 108.4 kWh battery pack. One look at the EQS 680 and it’s clear that this is vehicle has a lot of attention to detail. The iconic Maybach grille, adorned with the signature star ornament, immediately catches the eye. The attention to detail continues with integrated sideboards and a distinctive multifunction steering wheel, all proudly showcasing the Maybach logo. In fact, if you count all the Maybach logos on the car, the number goes up to almost 55!
The EQS 680 comes with some serious lighting tech. It features Digital Light technology, which includes Adaptive High Beam Assist Plus and ULTRA RANGE high beam to ensure that the road ahead is always well-lit. Inside, the cabin glows with Active Ambient Lighting, offering 64 colours and 13 different lighting combinations, including Maybach-exclusive themes like ROSE GOLD and AMETHYST GLOW, adding an extra touch of personalisation to every journey.
Step inside the EQS 680, and you’re surrounded by luxury. The cabin is dressed in the finest vegetable-tanned leather, complemented by eco-friendly Econyl carpets. But it’s not just about looks; the Burmester 4D surround sound system, featuring 15 premium speakers and Dolby Atmos along with 8 exciters in the seats will ensure the car becomes a disco on wheels in no time. With a length of 5125 mm and a wheelbase of 3210 mm, there’s more than enough room to stretch out and relax.
The rear compartment of the EQS 680 is where luxury truly shines. Imagine reclining in ventilated massaging seats, complete with calf massage and a special chauffeur mode. For those who like to travel in style, there’s even a drinks refrigerator, paired with flute glasses. If you need to get some work done on the go, the business console offers folding tables, turning the backseat into a mobile office. And when it’s time to unwind, the 11.6-inch rear-facing screens provide top-notch entertainment.
The rear seat entertainment system offers high-resolution touchscreens with direct internet access, making long trips more enjoyable. Plus, enhanced soundproofing means you can enjoy a quieter cabin, turning every ride into a serene escape from the outside world.
The MBUX Hyperscreen is the centrepiece of the EQS 680’s tech offerings, featuring OLED technology and a user interface designed specifically for Maybach. The Active Multicontour Seat Package adds another layer of comfort, offering 10 ENERGIZING massage programs to help you relax on the road. The MBUX AR Head-up Display projects key driving information right into your line of sight, making every drive a breeze.
Opening the doors is easier and safer with Automatic Comfort Doors that come with Blind Spot Assist and proximity sensors. Inside, the ENERGIZING Package Plus harmonises climate control, ambient lighting, and music to create personalised comfort programs like “Power Nap” or “ENERGIZING COACH.” And if that wasn’t enough, the Air Balance Package keeps the cabin air clean with a HEPA filter and lets you customize the interior scent to your liking.
The Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 is truly astounding as a luxury EV. It has an insane amount of tech and comfort and screams richness all over. Looking at the high number of sales the Maybach GLS 600 is fetching, I’m sure even the EQS 680 will find a good number of takers.
