Mercedes-Benz has launched the sport editions of its E-Class 220 CDI and C-Class 220 CDI sedans. The E-Class and the C-Class are the flagship sedans of Mercedes-Benz which are also its highest selling luxury cars in India. Ever since its launch, 16,000 units of the C-Class have been sold in the market. On the other hand, more than 21,000 units of the E-Class have been sold till date. The introduction of the sport editions will help the company target the younger generation.
The Mercedes C-Class Sport Edition is equipped with AMG body styling, front and rear bumper aprons, side skirts, 17-inch 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, halogen and fog lamps and black painted roof and SPORT badge. It will be available in polar white color. The C-Class also features electric seats and a thematic automatic climate control system. Safety features like PRE-SAFE, NECK Pro, tire pressure loss warning system, six airbags, ABS, ESP, Brake Assist and Acceleration skid control are present as well.
The Mercedes E-Class Sport Edition too has got the AMG Body Styling with 18-inch 5-spoke light-alloy wheels. Safety features are similar to that of the C-Class Sport Edition. Both the new editions are powered by a 2143cc, 4-cylinder engine which is mated to a 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission. This engine produces a peak power output of 170 BHP at 3000-4200 RPM and a peak torque output of 400 Nm at 1400-2800 RPM. The C-Class sport edition is priced at Rs. 29.9 lakhs and the E-Class sport edition is price at Rs. 39.9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
