Mercedes India To Launch 2015 CLS With 2.2L Diesel Engine

Mercedes-Benz launched the 2014 CLS 350 in India last month. The CLS 350 coupe comes powered with a petrol engine along with a high price tag of course. Now, it has been learnt that Mercedes has brought down the CLS 250 CDI for homologation in India. The CLS 250 CDI will be the 2015 model and it will be priced significantly lower than the petrol variant (which will be axed as its the old model) and it will surely generate more sales compared to the petrol model. The CLS competes with the Audi A7 and BMW 6-Series.

The Mercedes CLS is a beautiful coupe and the overall design packs in a blend of sportiness and premium appeal. The interiors come with a nice 3D instrument cluster and the interior lighting package provides three different lighting modes like Polar, Solar and Neutral. The Mercedes CLS also comes with a very nice-sounding Harman Kardon Logic 7 audio system with 14 speakers including a subwoofer and a 9-channel DSP amplifier. The 610-watt Dolby Digital 5.1 System has been custom-tuned for the CLS.

While the petrol CLS 350 gives out 306 HP of power and 370 Nm of torque, the CLS 250 CDI gives out 201 HP of power and 500 Nm of torque. The engine is a 2143cc unit with four cylinders while the petrol engine is a V6. The mill comes with direction injection and twin-turbos and it is mated to a 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission. The CLS also comes with ECO start-stop system and power from the engine is provided to the rear wheels. The Mercedes CLS 350 is priced at Rs. 89.9 lakhs and we can expect the CLS 250 to be priced at Rs. 75-80 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
