Mercedes GLS to get updated with new lights and bumpers along with new features

Mercedes has decided to extend the lifecycle of the third generation GLS. The updated model has been spotted testing overseas with multiple new changes. This will be the second facelift of the current model on sale and is expected to make its debut later in 2025.

The front profile will get substantial changes, following the latest design language of the German luxury carmaker. The headlights look slimmer than the current model on sale. It is expected to come with new layout for the LED DRLs. The grille seems larger than ever that will also house the radars and sensors for the ADAS suite.

The front and rear bumper will be updated to lend it a fresh look. While the side profile of this particular test mule reveals basic alloy wheels, we might see newly designed set of alloys with the production version when it reveals next year. We don’t expect any major changes on the side profile.

The rear profile of the updated Mercedes GLS prototype reveals a new set of tail lights with star shaped LED light detailing inside, which is similar to the ones seen on the new generation Mercedes E-Class’s tail lights. We might see some changes on the tailgate as well.

Mercedes is also expected to update the interior with new colour tones and materials. Visual changes might include new steering wheel and dashboard styling tweaks including new larger touchscreen infotainment system along with an updated digital instrument cluster. There will be a longer list of features on offer to keep up with the competition.

In terms of engine options, Mercedes will be offering the same petrol and diesel powertrains along with the 48V mild hybrid tech to make them more efficient and lower the emissions.

Once launched in the international market by 2025, we can expect Mercedes to introduce the updated GLS in India by the end of 2025 or early 2026.
