Mercedes GLE LWB facelift and AMG C 43 launched in India. The GLE is available in three variants 300d, 450 and 450d, priced at Rs. 96.40 lakhs, Rs. 1.10 crores and Rs. 1.15 crores (ex-showroom) respectively. The Mercedes AMG C 43 is priced at Rs. 98 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Mercedes has updated the GLE with slight changes on the exterior that gets updated grille design, new headlights with revised detailing, new bumpers and similar tweaks at the rear with updated tail lights and bumper. You now get fresh alloy wheel designs on offer. Mercedes is offering AMG body styling with the 450d and 450 variants that looks more sporty.
The interior looks more or less the same with slight changes in the materials and colour scheme on offer along with a new 3-spoke steering wheel. Mercedes is now offering the second generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system with the GLE. It is equipped with Burmester sound system with 13 speakers and a system output of 590 watts.
The updated engines of the Mercedes GLE LWB now get ISG technology. The GLE 300d is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine producing 269 HP and 550 Nm of torque. It does 0-100 km/hr in 6.9 seconds and has a top speed of 230 km/hr.
The GLE 450d is powered by a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder diesel engine producing 367 HP and 750 Nm of torque. It does 0-100 km/hr in 5.6 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/hr.
The GLE 450 is powered by a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder petrol engine producing 381 HP and 500 Nm of torque. It does 0-100 km/hr in 5.6 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/hr. All these three engines are mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Now the Mercedes AMG C 43 is a performance oriented version of the C-Class that comes with sportier exterior and interior elements. Along with that it gets a powerful 2.0-litre 4-cylindr petrol engine, which is the world’s first series-production engine to be turbocharged with an electric exhaust gas turbocharger. Powered by the 48-volt onboard electrical system, the electric exhaust gas turbo operates at speeds of up to 1,75,000 RPM, which enables a very high air flow rate.
The 1991cc engine under the hood produces 408 HP at 6750 RPM and 500 Nm torque at 5500 RPM, mated to a 9-speed AMG automatic transmission. It does 0-100 km/hr in 4.6 seconds.
