Mercedes EQA will be available in a single variant in India, positioned below EQB
Mercedes EQA launched in India, priced at Rs. 66 lakhs (ex-showroom). It has been introduced as the brand’s most affordable electric vehicle in India. The EQA now sits below the EQB in the company’s EV lineup, which also includes the updated EQB 7-seat SUV, the larger EQE SUV and the EQS sedan. Bookings for the EQA are open, with deliveries set to begin in January 2025.
The facelifted EQA that was unveiled last year is characterised by its crossover-like styling. The front grille panel showcases Mercedes’ signature star pattern along with a full-width light bar. The rear design draws inspiration from the EQB, and 19-inch AMG alloys come as standard. Customers can choose from seven colour options: Polar White, Cosmos Black, Mountain Grey, High-tech Silver, Spectral Blue, Patagonia Red Metallic and Mountain Grey MAGNO.
Inside, the EQA features a backlit star pattern on the dashboard and door trims, similar to the S-Class and EQS. The cabin includes rose gold or Titanium grey pearl highlights on the upholstery and air vents, with Cupertino leatherette upholstery as standard.
Notable interior features include a touch-capacitive three-spoke steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, a digital driver’s display, heads-up display, augmented reality navigation, 10.25-inch touchscreen with Mercedes’ latest OS, 360-degree camera and a 710W 12-speaker Burmester sound system with Dolby Atmos. Safety features include 7 airbags, blind spot monitoring and ADAS.
The Indian version of the EQA is equipped with a 70.5kWh battery pack that powers a front-mounted electric motor, delivering 190 HP and 385 Nm of peak torque. This front-wheel-drive EV can accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in 8.6 seconds, with a top speed of 160 km/hr. The EQA offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 560 km on a single charge.
For charging, the EQA supports up to 100kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in 35 minutes. Using a standard 11kW AC charger, a full charge takes approximately 7 hours and 15 minutes.
The Mercedes EQA targets entry-level luxury electric SUVs, competing with models such as the Volvo XC40 Recharge, C40 Recharge and BMW iX1. It also faces competition from Kia’s EV6. By positioning the EQA as its most affordable EV, Mercedes-Benz aims to attract a broader audience to its electric vehicle offerings in India.
