The production of the Mercedes E-Class started in 1995 while it was the first luxury sedan to be produced in India and it is also the highest selling luxury sedan in the Indian market.
Mercedes-Benz has launched the ‘Edition E’ for the E-Class celebrating 20 years of production in India. The production of the luxury sedan started in 1995 and it became the first to be produced in the country. It is also the highest selling luxury sedan in the country and the automaker has sold 32,000 units of the car by now.
The Mercedes Edition E will come with a number of updates in and out on the E-Class. The special edition E200 is priced at Rs. 48.60 lakhs while the E250 CDI Edition E will cost Rs. 50.76 lakhs and the E350 CDI will be offered at a price of Rs. 60.61 lakhs (ex-showroom, Pune).
The exterior of the Mercedes Edition E sedan sports added features such as an illuminated Mercedes logo, electronic panoramic sunroof with Pre-Safe closing function, new fibre finished tail lights, black hub caps and an Edition E badge. The LED headlights are equipped with Intelligent Light System that adapts to the driving condition and illuminates accordingly.
Coming to the interior, the cabin sports a number of updates too which include Active Park Assist with camera, memory for seat position with 3 settings, SD card navigation, Mercedes-Benz apps, Thermotronic automatic air conditioning and 20.3 cm high-resolution colour infotainment system.
The added safety features on the Mercedes Edition E include 8 adaptive airbags, Neck-Pro feature that activates when the car senses a collision from behind and saves the front passenger and driver from spinal damage, occupant protection system that senses an accident and activates the reversible seat belt tensioners and adaptive tail lights that gives a stop signal using the tail lights in case of emergency braking.
The E 350 CDI Edition E sports some added features such as Park Assist with 360 degree camera that shows two views while the screen has a bird view on the left side and a detailed view on the right and 610 Watts Harman Kardon surround sound system with 9-channel amplifier, 2-channel booster and 14 speakers designed with Dolby Digital 5.1.
The Mercedes Edition E is launched along with a ‘Wish upon a Star’ contest where the contestants will have to send their wishes about the E-Class through various print and digital media platforms and dedicated booths at dealerships and the most unique and creative wish will be fulfilled by the automaker.
