Mercedes has updated the C-Class lineup with new features and revised pricing
Mercedes has introduced the new C 300 AMG Line in India, priced at Rs. 69 lakhs (ex-showroom). This new model replaces the previous C 300d AMG Line, becoming the new range topping variant in the C-Class lineup. Alongside this, Mercedes has also rolled out new features across both the C-Class and the GLC lineup.
The updated C-Class now includes ventilated front seats and a 360-degree camera. Similarly, the GLC SUV has been enhanced with ventilated front seats and additional airbags, increasing the total count to nine.
The transition from the diesel powered C 300d to the petrol driven C 300 AMG Line reflects a broader market shift. Around 70 percent of the brand’s sedan sales in India are petrol variants, underscoring a significant shift in consumer preference from diesel to petrol in the luxury segment.
The new C 300 AMG Line faces competition from BMW’s M340i, which is priced slightly higher at Rs. 72.90 lakhs. The M340i boasts a more powerful 374 HP, 3.0-litre 6-cylinder turbo petrol engine. In comparison, the performance oriented Mercedes C 43 AMG is priced at Rs. 98.25 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The C 300 AMG Line is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that generates 258 HP and 400 Nm of torque. It includes an integrated starter generator that adds an extra 22 HP and 205 Nm torque, along with an overboost function providing 27 HP of additional power for short bursts. The engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, achieving 0-100 km/hr in 6 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/hr.
Despite the higher price tag compared to its diesel predecessor, the C 300 AMG Line comes with several exclusive features. These include a Burmester 3D surround sound system, digital lights, augmented reality navigation, blind spot assist and the keyless-go comfort package.
The AMG Line package also brings sportier front and rear bumpers, AMG-specific interior touches and a standard Night Package that gives the cabin a blacked-out look. Additionally, customers can choose from Manufaktur colour options such as Patagonia red bright and Sodalite Blue.
The entire C-Class lineup, including the C 200 and C 200d, now features heated and ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, six fast-charging USB-C ports and adaptive high beam assist. Meanwhile, the GLC also benefits from the newly added heated and ventilated front seats and additional side rear airbags.
