The Mercedes C-Class Convertible will offer a fabric soft top in four colours namely Dark Red, Dark Blue, Dark Brown while the standard variant will have a black soft top.
Mercedes has given a kick-start to its ‘Year of Dreams’ initiative, which will include the launch of a number of convertibles, at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show while the first model unveiled is the C-Class convertible. The convertible version is based on the C-Class coupe that was unveiled last year.
The Mercedes C-Class convertible will be offered with black fabric soft top as standard while an option of dark red, dark blue and dark brown will also be offered. The mechanism takes less than 20 seconds to close at speeds up to 50 km/hr. It has a seating capacity of four passengers similar to what is seen on the hard-top sibling.
The feature list on the Mercedes C-Class convertible is long while the most interesting is the Airscarf feature that uses HVAC air vents in the headrests to throw warm air which keeps the passengers warm while the top is dropped. Other features will be similar to the ones seen on the sedan and coupe.
The C-Class convertible is expected to be launched globally in 2016 itself, however, the Indian market will not get the new model before 2017. The convertible will be offered with all the variants of the C-Class while the Indian market is expected to get the C220 and C200 only.
