Mercedes-Benz Will Expand Compact Range in 2018

Mercedes-Benz has plans to introduce the next generation of its compact range by 2018. They will also be adding newer cars to this portfolio spanning among the A, B and CLA Class. Mercedes-Benz gained immense attention through the B-Class and later the A-Class. The A-Class in India has received over 400 bookings since its launch two months back. Then there was the launch of the diesel-hearted B-Class. The CLA-Class will definitely be the next hot offering from the German firm in India. The compact front-wheel drive line-up is even more successful globally due to the price factor.

The GLA crossover intended to tackle the likes of the BMW X1 and Audi Q3 will be launched in 2014. The production version of this crossover will debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show in September. Next up in line from the front-wheel drive generation is the B-Class electric for sale in the US next year. Before that, US will witness the launch of the CLA sedan by September this year. All in all, the entire MFA lineup will be complete by 2015. The next generation line-up will start surfacing from 2018.

Mercedes-Benz is still in thoughts as to what new additions can be made to the next-generation compact range. Speculations suggest something awesome in the new range. They are the convertible CLA-Class Coupe and also a two-door roadster. The hatchbacks are hot, the CLA is uber cool, so one more addition of a compact crossover could be thought of. Overall, this range has created a new dimension among luxury cars, which has forced other German biggies on their toes to launch their compacts too. BMW will come up with the 1-Series and Audi will bring the A3 sedan as competitors to the Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
