The German luxury car manufacturer of late has been in the news many times and all for the right reasons. This time Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars stated in an announcement when meeting investors and analysts at the opening of the new plant in Kecskemet, Hungary that Mercedes Benz is consistently improving in its growth strategy. The company has a fighting spirit and is aiming to become the leading manufacturer of premium automobiles once again by sales volumes.
To achieve this, Mercedes Benz has put in what they call “Mercedes Benz 2020 Growth Strategy”. With this strategy, the company wants to achieve the numerno uno position in the premium segment not only in terms of brand, product and profit margin by by volumes sales also. It is also bringing out 5 new models of the new generation compact car and the highly iconic CLS Shooting Brake. Apart from that, by 2015 it also plans to launch 10 new derivatives for which no predecessor models exist like the luxury segment will be expanded with the S Class range from 3 to 6 models.
Then move also involves further reduction in CO2 emissions and improvement of fuel economy. Mr. Zetsche commented that the company is highly convinced about “cool” and “green” existing side by side in a vehicle and would be working on that. Mercedes-Benz Cars will further improve its profitability by means of project-related cooperation such as with Renault/Nissan, as well as through savings achieved from the module and platform strategies and improved efficiency.
